More About Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is inspired by National-Park-Lodges from the turn of the century in America. Filled with rustic charm this Disney resort is designed to immerse you in the untamed beauty of the great Northwest. The drive up to the lodge is surrounded by a pine forest making you feel like you are winding through the roads of upstate California more so than traveling on Disney property in Central Florida. Once you make your way to the resort you will be greeted by the building’s rugged exterior and the soothing sight and sound of Copper Creek Falls. This is the backdrop for the new concierge lounge, Reunion Station, which is slated to be up and running in 2018.
DVC Members Only Perks at Reunion Station
Reunion Station will be adjacent to the lodge’s restaurant Geyser Point Bar and Grill. The space will offer the option for paid lounge access that will give members select food and beverages during specified hours in the mornings and evenings daily. Parties will be able to purchase the add-on for the duration of their stay based on availability. Wine tastings and photography classes, as well as other premium experiences yet to be released, will also be offered with a participation fee. In the afternoons there will be open time for members who want to slow down with their family to play games and spend some time away from the crowds of the parks and pools.
Inspired By Walt Disney
Reunion Station will have the appearance of a former railway station, a theme that is prevalent on Disney grounds as Walt himself was a huge fan of railroad transit. In fact, the idea for the mouse that started it all came to Walt while riding a train, and his initial inspiration for Disneyland was from a backyard railroad he had built for himself and his family called the Carolwood Pacific. Inside Reunion Station guests will enjoy the comfort of modern amenities while still feeling fully immersed in the theme created for them, something Disney creators have mastered over the years of design.
Fun For All Ages At The Copper Creek Springs Pool
Back out on the grounds of the resort, you’ll find Copper Creek Springs Pool, the perfect place for a dip no matter what time of the year. Both hot and cold whirlpool spas are offered and the pool itself is heated to maintain a comfortable swimming temperature during every season. Guests of all ages will be bubbling with excitement to slip down the sixty-seven-foot water slide that’s built into the rocks around the pool. For a more laid-back afternoon in the sun check out Boulder Ridge Cove Pool. This watering hole has six shady areas around its edge so you can kick back and relax.
Food & Dining Options At Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
When you start to feel hungry take a break from swimming and head over to Geyser Point Bar and Grill. This eatery offers both sit-down dining service and a walk up window for those who want a quick bite while enjoying the day. The menu is a mixture of small plates and entrees. The Tillamook cheddar bison burger is a must-try for any burger fan and for dessert indulge in the scrumptious chocolate brownie mousse with caramel popcorn and toasted meringue. The ambiance of Geyser Point only adds to the experience. Sitting on Bay Lake this restaurant has spectacular water front views that can be seen from practically any seat in the restaurant. Head down to Geyser Point during twilight to enjoy the full effect of the sunset on the water.
Things To Do At Wilderness Lodge Resort
After dinner, you can spend some time by the roaring fireplace that creates the focal point inside the Wilderness Lodge lobby or watch a movie under the stars on the lawn between Geyser Point and the marina. During your stay you will definitely want to spend one evening watching the Electrical Magic Water Pageant that happens on the shoreline of the resort. Disney songs play while sea creatures of all sorts light up the lagoon. The show starts around 9:30 for guests of the Wilderness Lodge.
